ABOUT CMAG

A Standing Institution for a Maturing Market

The Carbon Market Association of Ghana is a practitioner platform that strengthens the professional community, upholds standards, engages constructively with Ghana’s carbon-market architecture, and actively connects members to business.

The Gap We Fill

Ghana has built a credible architecture for carbon markets — the Carbon Market Office under the EPA, the Ghana Carbon Registry, the Carbon Market Committee and its Technical Advisory Committee, and the framework anchored in the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124).

What did not yet exist is an organised, practitioner-facing platform that brings the people working across that market together. CMAG is being established to fill that gap — as a standing institution governed by leading practitioners drawn from across the value chain.

How We're Constituted

A public company limited by guarantee under the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992). Not-for-profit: no income is distributed to members as profit — surpluses are applied to our objects. Reg. CG042590626 · TIN C0067523307 · Incorporated 25 June 2026 · Accra, Ghana.

What We Do - Four Complementary Functions

Advocacy and policy engagement

A recognised private-sector counterpart to the CMO and EPA, channelling practitioner input into Ghana’s evolving Article 6 framework.

Capacity building and professional standards

Training, practitioner toolkits, conferences, industry trainee attachments, accreditation pathways, and a binding code of professional practice that strengthen market integrity.

Market Intelligence

Shared analysis on methodologies, pricing, demand signals and regulatory developments — so members make better-informed decisions.

Business Facilitation

Actively connecting members to project pipelines, buyers, partners and commercial opportunities under a transparent framework.

A Constructive Private-sector partner

A platform, not a regulator. CMAG is a practitioner platform — not a regulator or neutral arbiter. We engage with the CMO and EPA as a constructive private-sector partner, bringing the market’s perspective to the table.
Independent and credible. Our business-facilitation work is administered separately from our policy and advocacy work, so that our voice with regulators and international partners stays independent and trustworthy.
Member-led governance. An Executive Council of senior practitioners holds delegated, board-like authority over strategy, operations and standards — with representation structured across the value chain.
